When Scully shows up at Mulder's place looking for him, she finds Deep Throat, who directs her to the Fort Marlene high containment facility to retrieve the source of Dr. Terrance Berube's bacteria sample to use in exchange for Mulder. When he swap is made, Deep Throat is shot and killed.
