In our world, Star Trek Season 2 episode Assignment:Earth was intended as a backdoor pilot for a new series that failed to launch. In this alternate reality, Star Trek was canceled after the second season, and the Assignment: Earth series not only launched, but ran for 6-7 seasons, becoming even more popular than Star Trek ever was.
